PRIVATE SECTOR PROGRAMME FOR SUPPORT TO THE FRUITS AND BERRIES SECTOR IN SOUTHERN SERBIA
Danish program for development of fruits sector in the South of Serbia has the aim to promote production, quality, processing and disposal of five value chain which are: sour cherries, plums, raspberries, blueberries and strawberries. The program will work in Nisava, Toplica, Jablanica, Pcinja and Pirot districts, and foreseen period of project realization is four years.
The overall objectives of the program are:
- Preparation for EU accession
- Strengthening of sustainable growth of the private sector
- Increase of export
- Increase of income generation
- Job creation, in particularly among youth and women
The program will be implemented with two major components, which are:
- Capacity building
- Grant Scheme
Objectives of capacity building component are:
- Increase of income generation through system of active informing and training
- Increasing the technical level of fruit production and processing
- Rising the knowledge of local and international market and organizing marketing associations
- Technical support with the aim to introduce new varieties of the fruits in accordance with matching market needs and trends
- Supporting the use of certified seedlings and support to the nursery plantation
- Introduction of certificates in the process of productions, processing and disposal of the fruits
- Support in establishment of producers and processors association
Grants for support of value chains could be used for financing of:
- Plantation: Obtaining certified seedlings and support establishment of new plantations, rejuvenate of old plantations with certified seedlings of old and new varieties of raspberry, sour cherry, plums, strawberry and blueberry
- Obtaining of machines and equipment applicable in any segment of value chain: sprayers, atomizers, green houses, anti-hail systems, irrigation systems,
- New cold storages, reconstruction of existing cold storages, technologies and machines for fruit processing
